What Are Porcelain Veneers?

In this video, Dr. Gloria Stingley explains when porcelain veneers are the right solution and why they work when whitening cannot.

Porcelain veneers are laboratory-fabricated veneers, which are stronger than chairside composite or resin veneers. They are very durable, last longer, and their color does not change over time. Porcelain veneers are especially beneficial for people with congenital defects in their teeth or for those whose teeth became discolored due to medications taken by their mother during pregnancy, such as tetracycline. These types of discoloration cannot be corrected with bleaching, so veneers are an effective option. In some cases, veneers may not fully correct the issue, and a crown may be required.

If you have good oral hygiene and do not grind your teeth, veneers are an excellent way to achieve what is often referred to as a Hollywood smile. Veneers are a treatment of choice for improving the appearance of teeth because only a small amount of tooth structure is removed, which is why they are often recommended.

Over the next few days, white blood cells migrate to the injury site. These cells clean out bacteria, paving the way for new tissue to [...]

Do Dental Fillings Hurt?

Cavities form when the acids in your mouth erode your tooth’s protective enamel, forming a hole in the surface of the tooth. When left untreated, tooth decay progresses deeper, affecting the dentin beneath the enamel and causing pain and sensitivity. An effective way to repair damage and restore the tooth’s structure is with dental fillings. When performed early enough, [...]
