In this video, Dr. Gloria Stingley explains how mini dental implants can sometimes be placed and restored in a single visit.
Another advantage of mini dental implants is that they can be placed immediately. They can be placed after an extraction, depending on the condition of the patient. If the area is healthy and there is minimal bone loss, we can place the mini implant and restore it with a temporary prosthesis or crown during the same visit.
This does not take long and may add only about 15 minutes to the time required for the tooth extraction. If a patient comes in with a missing tooth and wants it replaced the same day, we can take radiographs, complete the diagnostic evaluation, and, if there is sufficient bone, place and restore the dental implant during that same visit.
