Options for Replacing a Missing Tooth
In this video, Dr. Gloria Stingley explains how different tooth replacement options compare and why timelines can vary.
After an evaluation to determine how much bone you have available, we can begin treatment with dental implants. We can place a conventional or standard implant, sometimes without performing invasive procedures. However, this option still requires a longer healing period of six to eight months before the abutment and crown are placed on the standard implant, so it takes more time to complete treatment.
If you have an adequate amount of bone remaining at the time of your consultation, you may be eligible for a mini implant. In that case, you can have the mini implant placed and also receive the permanent crown. Because the consultation and workup are completed in advance, on that second visit after your consultation, your tooth can be replaced with the final restoration the same day.
