How Do I Care for My Implant Denture?
In this video, Dr. Gloria Stingley explains how proper daily care and follow-up visits help implant dentures last longer and stay comfortable.
Each patient who receives any prosthesis is always given post-operative care instructions. The care for each prosthesis may vary slightly, but the instructions are specific to the patient. In some cases, it is best for patients to return for two or three follow-up visits so we can ensure the cleaning process follows proper guidelines and that they are maintaining good oral hygiene. We provide written post-operative instructions and demonstrate the process before you leave.
However, it is strongly recommended that you return for follow-up visits, because bad habits are difficult to break and new routines can be challenging to maintain. You may think you are doing a good job, but even when using a Waterpik, we recommend coming back so we can evaluate how well you are cleaning. We can then demonstrate ways to improve your technique, because our goal is for you to be able to maintain your denture long term.
